At tsw|architects, we’re not only passionate about architecture… but cake too! The Architecture Bake Off was the perfect competition to bring both passions together. Hosted by the London Festival of Architecture, the 2020 edition went digital due to the Covid lockdown – allowing us to submit our entry all the way from Sri Lanka.
This scaled cake model of St. Paul’s Cathedral was masterfully baked and assembled by our very own Jayne Breakwell. She skillfully carved the cake “building blocks” to form the cathedral’s base and structure. Using a mix of butter icing and melted chocolate, she added windows, reveals, and intricate visual details. The domes were cast from melted white chocolate, while dark chocolate chips were incorporated to create contrast and represent shadows.
A true architectural marvel – made entirely of cake!
