Project Title

Renovation and Refurbishment of Residence of Switzerland

Client

The Government of Switzerland

Type of Building

Following the successful completion of the Swiss Embassy project, tsw | architects collaborated once again with the Government of Switzerland to refurbish and renovate the Official Residence of the Embassy of Switzerland including a major security upgrade of the property. The scope of work included the extension of the Guardhouse, refurbishment and alterations to the Main Residence building, and the upgrading of the Pool House. The project also encompassed a comprehensive replacement of all electrical and security systems, together with the introduction of seismic strengthening measures to the Main Residence. Upgrading the security systems required the removal and replacement of all existing doors and fenestration with security-cleared alternatives. The enhancement of the electrical systems enabled revisions to the lighting design and the integration of landscape lighting elements, improving functionality during official diplomatic events held at the Residence. The Guardhouse was extended to incorporate additional changing rooms and bathroom facilities, providing improved operational efficiency. Alterations were also made to the private quarters, including the subdivision of a large bedroom into two separate rooms, and the establishment of a designated safe haven. As the project was delivered using specialised contractors across multiple disciplines, careful coordination between all parties was essential. This complex process was successfully managed, ensuring the effective execution of the works to the required technical and security standards.
