tsw|architects celebrate its 50th year

Published on 27 April 2026

tsw|architects celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2024 – a rare milestone that few other practices in Sri Lanka can claim. The occasion was marked with an in-house exhibition, open to a select group of guests who had played a part in the growth and establishment of this half-century-old architectural practice. The exhibition showcased five major projects, one from each decade: GOBA, The Long Building, Hantane, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Building, and finally, the Faculty of Engineering Campus at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Each project was presented through plans, sections, various models, and even a cross-stitch piece. Scattered alongside these exhibits were several other notable projects, highlighting the many facets of a practice that has not only endured for five decades but has thrived.

The old tsw|architects team reunited with the current team, swapping stories, forging new relationships, and renewing old ones. After months of tireless work behind the scenes, the exhibition remained open the following day for the public to come in, nose around, and see what the team had been up to.
